Buy American made toys

Recent polling numbers indicate that nearly 80% of consumers are concerned over toy safety.  The latest major recall of 4.2 million units of Aqua Dots made in China has prompted some consumers to look for American-made toys only. However, getting that label that says "Made in the U.S.A." might not be as easy as you think. Most, some 80% of toys sold in the Unites States are manufactured in China according to the Toy Industry Association. The remaining 20 percent of toys come from manufacturers in Europe and other countries.

What’s more is that we are seeing even more safety problems come up with recalled Chinese-made toys.  Loose small pieces of plastic, magnets and rough edges are all part of the larger problem – the lack of safety standards in Chinese made toys.   So many parents today are wanting to buy only products made in the United States.

There is a small market for domestic toys, mostly wooden toys.  Why is that? Why is it so hard to find toys so that you don’t have to worry about toy recalls?

The answer is price.  It costs more to make specialty toys than it does to manufacture large volumes of toys.  The trade-off is that with specialty products, the quality is there, so say specialty manufacturers.

So when you are looking for toy products Consider only those made in the U.S. and only from scrupulous vendors.
